Magic is the fabric of this world and you were born of that magic. You are magic itself.

JOHN RHYS-DAVIES ACTUALLY VISITED THE SET OF THE HOBBIT WHEN THEY WERE FILMING YELLED “DADDY” AND HUGGED GLOIN! OH MY GOD! THIS ENTIRE CAST!

My leg is twitching.

In other news, I’m at the Greyhound in Milwaukee waiting for my bus to be called.

…I have about 45 minutes until it leaves.

The Hobbit was incredible; I’ll post something longer about that later because right now I’m a bit sleep-deprived, ready to go, and VERY twitchy with nerves over this whole bus thing.

(I don’t know why I freak out so much; everything went really well last year.  Tis my nature, I suppose.)

Just finished A Game of Thrones.

And WOW.

Why did I wait so long???

This is such a brilliant and beautifully written book.  I tip my hat to you, George R.R. Martin, both because you’ve renewed my faith in the fantasy genre and because I know I’ll never be able to write as well as you.

Shakespeare plays and sonnets performed using 400-year-old Original Pronunciation.

This video demonstrates why historically informed performance can be so illuminating.  Puns and lewd jokes, hidden in RP, leap out when performed in certain versions of OP.  Rhymes that don’t work in RP, do in OP: love vs. prove, speak vs. break, etc.  The ca. 1600 OP is so rich sounding; I would love to hear a production using it!

“The audition was to play a Los Angeles lifeguard. So I turn up, pasty, skinny, off the plane, black shirt. I walk in, there’s like ten guys in there, blonde, tanned, enormous. And I kid you not, one of them had his pant leg rolled up and was going, “Dude, I just don’t know how to get the definition in my calves. I can’t do it.” And I thought, I’m in the wrong place.”
